Irwin Weiner ASID - My office is close to Hunter College, whose main buildings and innovative skywalks over the street were once chided by architectural critics as being too severe and attempts to block out the sun. The architect, Ulrich Franzen, is featured in today's video, actually the last interview before he died last year at age 91, and it's a lovely non-Brutalist look at an Essex, CT glass house he designed in 1956, a modernist "temple," with a soaring roof and spectacular views over the Connecticut River valley.
